The 'Jade Garden' Nail Art

It's been quite a long time that I wrote a post. Nevertheless am back with a super easy and beautiful nail art for all of you to try on.

I call this design the 'Jade Garden' giving to the colors that I have used for this one. It is a very simple one to do and also looks great with different color combos.

I wanted to particularly try this out with a beautiful shade of green since it's really rare that we get to see green being generously used as a nail paint color.

So let me tell you the shades that I have used here.

If you have followed my posts then you would be well aware by now that I am a big fan of Maybelline nail paints. They really have a beautiful range of shades and quality nail paints. So even this time, the nail paints are from Maybelline range.

For the base coat, I have used two shades.

1. #301 Tenacious teal (although it's called teal, it has a warm jade green hue)
2. #102 Porcelain Party (a beautiful opaque white)

For drawing the flowers and the creeper, I have used two nail art pens from a local store. One of them being a white shade and another one being a lush jade green color.

To start of with, apply two generous coats of  green on all the nails except for the nail on the ring finger. Now onto your ring finger nail, apply two coats of white polish. Let it dry completely.

To draw the flowers

This one is pretty simple to do, since I have not used much of technique here. These are simple 5 petal'ed' white flowers.
If you don't have a nail art pen, then you can just pick a tooth pick to dot these flowers

You can start off from the top corner of your nail and just go along a diagonal line across your nail towards the tip. This pretty much makes it look like a bunch of flowers on a creeper.

To draw the creeper

Now to draw the creeper on your ring finger nail, use the green nail art pen/green polish to draw a horizontal line towards the edge of the nail leaving some space to fill up the leaves on either sides.

Now the creeper need not have that perfectly shaped leaves. Just stroke the pen to get pointed lines on either sides of the horizontal line for the leaves.

Let it dry completely.

Finally secure the design with a coat of clear polish and you are good to go! :)

Geometric Nail Art

It's been a long time that I met you guys through my posts.
But here I am with a new nail art to make up for the absence!

Geometric Nail Art

It's extremely easy to do and looks great for the fall season with the warm orange shade!

I will tell you guys about the shades that I have used here for this design.

For the base coat, I have used a very warm orange shade from Maybelline Newyork ColorShow range of nail enamels(Yeah! you know me now! A great fan of Maybelline :P), #214 called 'Orange Fix'.

Two good coats should do for the base coat. Just the plain shade itself makes your nails look so attractive!

Now for the design, I have used a black shade.

Just pick up any good dark black shade. Also you would need few tools if your gonna use the bottle nail paint to draw the designs, like a thin brush. But I have used a nail art pen to draw the designs here.

For the index and pinky I have done a tiny traingle at one of the edges of the nail. Just swipe the nail paint brush at one of the edges of the nails diagonally to draw the traingle.

For the thumb and middle finger I have done tiny rings with the nail art pen. This one looks super cute and you could actually do this design on all the nails if you'd wish to!

For the ring finger nail, I have done a zigzag tape at the edge of the nail with the nail art pen. Just draw a thin zig zag line at the extreme edge of the nail using the nail art pen and fill up the space with the nail paint brush itself.

To secure the design, I have used a clear coat polish.

Tadaaa....your nails are super ready for this fall!

Colorful Confetti Nail Art

Heyy people!

It's a super weekend and am back with a super easy nail art.

Here it is,

It's an extremely easy nail art, doesn't really require many tools to do it and its colorful ;)

So let's get started.

I have used 5 colors for this design. All the nail paints are from Maybelline Color show range of nail enamels. (I just so love these! Seems like I have become the unofficial brand ambassador of Maybelline Newyork :D)

The shades that I have used are (from left to right in the picture)

1. #213 Fiesty Fuschia (as the base coat)
2. #405 Sweet Sunshine (yellow)
3. #404 Mint Mojito (minty green)
4. #401 Constant Candy (candy pink)
5. #303 Shocking Seas (bright blue)

First paint your nails with the base coat. I have used Fiesty Fuschia, a very sober magenta shade from Maybelline as my base coat. You could even experiment with other colors since this design is just a burst of many colors. Just make sure that the base coat you choose compliments well with the other shades you choose for the confetti dots.

So once the base coat is dry, start dotting from the tip of the nails towards the cuticle.

I have used a dotting tool here, but you could even use a ball point pin or a toothpick.

There is no said order in which you have to use the colors to dot. Just pick the colors one after the other and dot it away. Concentrate the dots more at the tip of the nail and go on dotting till the mid length, slowly tapering the number of dots as you go up.

Make sure you don't put too many dots of just one or two colors that there won't be any space left for the other colors on the nail. Also you can overlap few dots here and there of different colors so that it looks like real confetti in the air.

Place just one or two dots toward the cuticle. This gives the look of the confetti just rising in the air.

Once the dots dry out, seal the design with a coat of clear polish.

'Frozen' inspired ombre nails

Hello folks!

Today I am gonna show you how to do an ombre glitter nail art inspired from the movie 'Frozen'.
Am sure that there are several nail art tutorials out there showing the same design, but this post is about my take on it.

So here it is.

I have used 3 beautiful shades of blue from Maybelline Color Show range of nail enamels for this design. 

Starting from the lightest, the shades are #403-Blueberry Ice, #303-Shocking Seas and the darkest shade being #503-Denim Dash.

Now to create the ombre effect you would require a small piece of sponge. It can be the regular craft sponge or the soft make up sponge. I feel that the make up sponge is less porous and doesn't provide the rugged look that I need for this design, So I have chosen the craft sponge which is more porous.

So first apply the lightest shade of blue #403 Blueberry Ice as the base coat. Apply generous two coats and allow it to dry. Now once the base coat is dry, take a small piece of the sponge and apply a good coat of the next shade #303, Shocking Seas and immediately start dabbing it slightly above mid length of your nails to the tip. Allow it to dry, and repeat the process again so that the shade becomes visible.

Do not worry if the design looks messy, it will look messy until you achieve the final look.

Now that the second shade is dry, repeat the process with the darkest shade of blue #503, Denim Dash. But this time start dabbing slightly below the mid length of the nail to the tips. Repeat the process if the color is still light. Allow it to dry.

Now you guys can use some glitter polish to apply at the tips to give it a glittery look like I have done here or just go plain by securing the design with a top coat alone.

Cutesy Animal Print Nail Art for Extra Short Nails

As you'll know I've been doing nail art for short nails more so that people with short nails can also enjoy flaunting their pretty nails.
I concentrate on how to make these short nails appear longer with nail art.

But recently a lot of people have been asking me to do some designs for 'Extra' short nails. So I tried creating one for you guys!

Here it is!

I know my nails don't qualify to the 'Extra Short Nails' category! However, I tried to cut them as much as I can to make them seem short. :D

So now talking about the design, you don't need any special tools to create this one.

I have used 2 nail art pens, one of which is a beautiful teal shade and the other one being black. If you don't have nail art pens just pick a toothpick for dotting.

For the base coat I have used a shade, #213 from Maybelline Newyork Color Show range called 'Fiesty Fuschia'.

Apply two coats of base coat and let it dry. Then pick some teal polish with the toothpick and start dotting. You don't have to do the perfect round dots for this, just add some messy dots here and there. Remember not to crowd the nail with too many dots. Less is more here.

Let it dry. Once the messy dots are dry, take some black polish and apply it on the borders of the teal dots. Don't cover the border completely as that won't give you the animal print look. Draw broken borders to finish the design and let it dry.

Once the design is dry, secure it with a coat of clear polish and voilà! your cutesy animal print nails are ready to flaunt!

Summer Flowers Nail Art Design

Hello people!

I am extremely sorry for not posting anything for more than a week! Although I had done a new nail art design, I couldn't write a post because I was so much held up with other things.

But as they say ''Better late than never", I am late but back with a super cutesy summer flower nail art design.

So here it is!

As promised in my previous blog post, I have done a nail art which you could don this summer! I have used a nice warm shade of orange with a little bit of white for this one as you can see in the picture.

The nail paint that I have used for my base coat is shade #214 from the Maybelline Color Show range of nail enamels and it's called 'Orange Fix'.

Initially when I bought this color I was skeptical on using it because I have a dusky complexion and not all warm colors suit dusky skin.

But I must tell you this shade suits pretty much every skin tone! And it looks absolutely amazing!

Well, back to the design. I have used my stamping kit again for this design.

I needed cute small flowers so I chose a design from the Konad Image plate M2 which has many cute little floral images.

I applied two coats of orange as the base coat and once it was dry, I used Konad special stamping nail polish(white) for stamping the cutesy flower bunch onto my nails from the image plate(for instructions on how to use a stamping kit please refer to my initial blog posts). And finally secured the design with a layer of clear polish.

Funky Triangle Nail Art

Sunday is here again! So am I with a new funky summer nail art!

Although summer is here, I am still stuck to the dark winter colors. But I promise I'll get back to you guys with some fun and bright colors next time!

So here is my Funky Triangle Nail Art.

Yes...yes I am getting better with the picture editing isn't it? Numbering n all eh? ;) 

Well yeah I am trying my best to be clear with the steps so that you can do it easily.

So lets get started.

I have used two basic contrasting colors here. Shade #35 which is a glossy black from Elle 18 colors pops and a beautiful teal which is shade #34 called 'The Ocean Blue' from Streetwear Color Rich nail enamel.

I first painted my nails with 2 coats of black polish as the base coat and allowed it to dry.

After that, for creating the perfect triangle I used two strips of sticky tape and stuck them diagonally across the tips of my nails to form a small triangle at the cuticle tips.

It is important to see that the tape is stuck to nails well and there are no air gaps otherwise the triangle will not come out perfectly after you remove the tape.

Once the tape was stuck onto the nails, I applied two coats of teal polish on the triangle area and let it dry.

I carefully removed the tape off my nails to get the perfect triangle.

Finally to secure the design, I applied a coat of clear polish.

Since I have used black polish as my base coat I had to paint two coats of teal polish for the color to be visible. You can use a lighter shade for your base coat if you don't have colors that will pop on the black polish.

Or you could just reverse the colors. Use teal as base coat and black for triangles.

Cutesy Dots Nail Art

Happy Women's Day To All You Pretty Ladies Out There!

I hope you're having a great day and enjoying the spirit of womanhood.

Here I am to add a little creativeness to it with a cute nail art design :)

Its a simple nail art and you can wear this pretty much to any occasion.

I thought that I should use some earthy colors this time so ended up using a very nice shade of maroony brown.

I have used two basic colors here. A very nice shade of magenta called 'C/941' in VOV range of nail art pens for the ribbon of dots and a maroonish brown shade called 'chocolate sin' by Maybelline New York Color Show range for the base coat.

I painted two coats of brown for the base coat and allowed it to dry. Once it was dry I used the nail art pen to draw the ribbon of dots.

The ribbon of dots might look a little complicated in the picture, but trust me its really simple.

Draw a very thin line of magenta across the tip of your nails. Soon after that place small dots along the line leaving some space between the adjacent dots till you cover the entire line. Allow it to dry and viola! You have mastered to draw the dots ribbon :)

After I was done with drawing the ribbon of dots, I allowed it to dry completely and then secured the design with a coat of clear polish. Always allow the design to dry completely before you apply the top coat otherwise the design might smudge.

Peach Glitter Nail Art for Toe Nails

It's a lovely sunday and am very excited to show you guys my new nail art :)

So here is my nail art number 6.

Haha yes, usually people show their nail art done on hand nails but i love doing it on my toe nails as well. I think our toe nails have the equal right to look as pretty as our hand nails do ;) Don't you think so?

So anyway, I call this design 'The Peach Glitter'.

I found this very lovely nail color amongst the Maybelline Color Show range! It's called the 'Coral Craze'. It such a lovely color that it suits almost all skin tones, so thought i should definitely try this color in one of my nail arts :)

Getting into the details of the design, it's again a very easy one to do and gives your toe nails a very elegant look.

I have used two polishes for this design. The 'coral craze' by Maybelline Color Show which is a beautiful pinkish orange shade (looks more like an orangish peach,that's why the name) and another, a golden thin glitter polish. Also my black nail art pen for the diagonal lines.

I painted all my nails with this beautiful shade of 'coral craze' as the base coat. Once it was dry i used the golden thin glitter polish to paint the third toe nail. 

Yes, I did paint the golden glitter polish onto the base coat on purpose because doing so gives a kind of multiple exposure of colors giving the golden glitter a beautiful tinge of peachy pink.

Again, I carefully painted the glitter polish on my first toe nail diagonally on the edge so as to form a small scalene triangle at the edge of the toe nail. And then I drew two diagonal parallel lines along the edge of the glitter polish using my black nail art pen to make the design pop.

I also drew two diagonal nails on my fourth toe nail to complete the design. Finally secured the nail art with a top coat of clear polish. 

I suggest you guys to paint the top coat onto the edges of the nails as well so that the design doesn't wear out from the edges.

Simple Nail Art Using Nail Art Strips

Sorry for not posting anything for almost a week! Been busy with lotta stuff.

So here I am with yet another easy-peasy pretty nail art.

This is a simple design that requires your favorite polish and some nail art strips.

The nail art strips are thin, self adhesive coloured strips that are used for creating varied designs in nail art.

I am not really sure whether you get them at a cosmetic store. I bought these online. Ebay sells the best nail art stuff for a reasonable price.

The nail art strips come in a variety of colors and there are even mixed colored strips which have different colors in a single roll. So you have a lot of options to choose from.

Here I have used a very nice shade of blue from StreetWear, its called 'blue sapphire' shade number 47. I just love this blue so much! It is such a pretty shade that even just a plain blue base coat looks so pretty on your nails.

Now coming back to the design. Once the base coat was dry, I used the nail art strips(silver) to make two parallel lines that go diagonally on my nails. 

I carefully placed the strip(you can use tweezers if your not really sure of using the strips with your fingers) starting from one side of my nail till the edge and cut the rest of the strip with a sharp scissor. Again repeated the same procedure by leaving a little gap from the first diagonal line to get two diagonal parallel lines.

Nail art strips can be annoying when your using them for the first time as they are really thin. And since they are self adhesive, they might even be little sticky.

But you can get used to them once you have your hand at it.

Finally I secured the design with a thick top coat so that the strips last for a longer time.

Simple Valentine Nails

Yes! Its Valentine Week!

And am so much excited to show you a pretty nail art design that you can don this valentine's day!

So here it is....

This design happened when I was just trying some random designs, didn't really have a 'Valentine's Day Design' agenda though.

I haven't used any heart shaped designs in this design since it seems all too cheesy and mushy to me(I know I'm weird sometimes ;)). However i have decided to stick to the classic 'love' colors, red and white for this design.

This is again a stamped design, so you would require your stamping kit.
I have used Maybelline Color Show nail paint, the shade being 'downtown red' for the base, white nail art pen for dotted designs and white special stamping polish for the stars.

I have painted my nails with two coats of red polish. After drying the base coat I used Konad Stamping image plate- M94 for the stars using white special stamping polish (for details on how to use stamping nail art kit refer to my first blog post NA#1).

I didn't wanted the design to look over the top, so i stamped the stars only on my ring finger nail.I used the white nail art pen for the round barbed lines design. I just drew two diagonal lines and then dotted on those lines for the design. And on my thumb nail, I did zig zag lines. So basically i have the designs on my alternate nails starting from the thumb.

Finally to secure the design, i painted a coat of clear polish.

Since I loved the design so much, i tried it on my toe nails too and trust me it looks adorable!
I insist all you ladies to try it on your toe nails!

Nail Art Design #2

Here comes my second design!

This one is my super favorites and it is the simplest design of all when it comes to stamping nail art.! I call it the 'Lacy Leopard' because of the obvious reasons. It gives you a very classy yet innovative look to your nails.

Usually the nails are painted with a base coat so that the design and colors pop out. But I don't really recommend that for this particular design because you need the print to look like a lace trim, very translucent and soft.

This is yet another stamped design so you would require the stamping kit again.

The image plate I have used here for stamping is Konad Stamping - Image Plate M93 (Silver) and the stamping polish is the Konad special stamping polish-white for stamping the image from the image plate.

So coming back to the look...

I have stamped the design directly onto my bare nails without any base coat applied underneath. After stamping the design I have used a top coat (Elle 18 top coats) to secure the design. That's about it! :)

Because the design covers all of your nails, it is possible that the image you stamp might get printed slightly outside your nails and onto your skin. So to remove this extra polish on your skin, just use a cotton ear bud dipped in the nail polish remover and carefully brush off the paint.

Do this only after you have applied the top coat, otherwise you might accidentally brush on the design spoiling it.

Nail Art Design #1

A very warm hello and welcome to all my readers.

My name is Bhavana.

Now before posting anything, i thought i should tell y'll a little about myself.
I am an Engineer by calling. In spite of being in the technical field, art has always somehow managed to rule my life.

Now coming to nail art, I wasn't really aware of nail art or anything related to it until lately when i tried my hand at it. I thought, since i am starting to like it i should definitely put my own ideas into it and see how well i can do or how far i can get in it.
So here I am!

This is not a tutorial page as of now since I am a beginner at this myself. So i will just be showcasing some of the stuff i have tried and will be trying in future in nail art which can be useful to people wanting to try their hand at nail art.
I might however give some details on the products and the tricks i will be using in nail art.
Please excuse the picture quality since i don't use a professional camera.

NA #1

I call this 'The White Carnations' since the design resembles the petals of Carnation.
This one is really easy to try. All you need is a stamping kit which i am sure is easily available at any online store.
For all those who don't know what a stamping kit is, it is basically a nail art kit which includes a stamp, special stamping paint, image plates and a paint scraper.

Using a stamping kit:

The stamping paint dries out really soon so u need be quick in using it.
Take the image plate and choose the design which you want to use on your nail (usually there will be 5 or 6 designs in a single image plate), paint the special paint on it to fill out the design completely. Be real quick in this.
Use the scraper to remove any excess paint on the design and quickly place the stamp on the design applying a little pressure on it.
Remove the stamp and quickly transfer the design onto your nails. Move the stamp from one side of the nail to other so that all the design gets stamped perfectly onto you nail.

Here, I have first painted my nails with black polish (i have used Elle 18  nail pops-black) and let them dry.
Used the stamping kit with white special polish for stamping the design onto my nails.
The design plate i have used is Konad Stamping Nail Art Image Plate - M2.
In order to secure the design and make it long last i have applied a coat of top coat polish.
